Annoying CAPS LOCK: Remove the Registry Entry to Disable It

CAPS LOCK: A Source of Frustration

For many individuals, the CAPS LOCK key on their keyboard is nothing more than an inconvenience that should be eliminated. Its accidental activation can lead to embarrassing typos and incorrect search queries.

Solution: Remove the Registry Entry

If you wish to disable CAPS LOCK permanently, you can delete a specific registry entry. This step-by-step guide will assist you in removing the registry entry:

  1. Press Windows Key + R to launch the Run dialog.
  2. Type "regedit" and click OK to open the Registry Editor.
  3. Navigate to the following location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout
  4. Right-click the "Scancode Map" folder and select "New" > "Binary Value."
  5. Name the new value "00000000" (without quotation marks).
  6. Double-click the newly created value and set its "Value data" field to "000000000000."
  7. Click OK to save changes.

After completing these steps, the CAPS LOCK key will be disabled on your system.
